Dr. Pham can help you with certain kinds of TMD (temporomandibular joint disorders) and migraines.
Injections are administered every six months in order to keep the proper muscles relaxed. If you have TMJ pain ask Chula Vista dentist, Dr. Pham if this treatment is an option for you.
TMJ pain is sometimes associated with tight muscles around the temporomandibular joint (where your upper and lower jaw meet and articulate). Certain cases of TMJ pain are helped by injecting specific muscles with botox.
Another option that proves effective for TMD and migraines is a device called an NTI-Tension Suppression System. It consists of an “occlusal splint”, a small transparent plastic device which is worn over the two front teeth and prevents the contact of canines and molars.
The device, custom fitted by Dr. Pham, prevents patients from clenching or grinding their teeth while sleeping. This grinding, also called bruxing, is a primary cause of tension headaches and migraines.
Approved by the FDA, the device has been proven in studies to decrease the number and frequency of headaches without the use of drug therapies.
